Today got my hands on forbes list of 100 most powerful women :

lets me start with indians on the list:

#6 Indra Nooyi , CEO Pepsico : Has now become familiar face at the list and the challenges which Pepico faces I am sure she will be around next year too

#89 Shikha Sharma ,CEO Axis Bank : Shikha Sharma did not get the top job at ICICI bank , which turned out to be good thing for AXIS .While we are at it ,Indian private banks are run by women , there is Chanda Kochhar @ICICI and many others ,infact I say “you are like Chanda Kochhar” whenever I wanna complement a smart lady .Unfortunately most of the ladies around don’t know who she is ,so I end up explaning who she is  :).(and the complement losses heat)

#92 Chanda Kocchar ,CEO ,ICICI bank : Didn’t I talked about her above ?

Thats it , these are the only 3 Indian ladies on the list .Surpringly missing from this list is Sonia Gandhi ,well wait for the elections . Comments about other women on the list follows :

#7 Lady Gaga :Youngest on the list(age 24) , message for the ladies out there,”Shock treatment” does work .That reminds me I gotta download “Bad Romance” and “Poker Face”.

#49 Stephenie Meyer (Twiligh series): Yeah ! the woman who made being Vampire a ‘cool’ thing . Her work has lead to the creation of succcessful movie series to keep teenagers busy for the next 2-4 years(and away from more important issues ) .Anyways Sainani made me watch first part , it was ok .

#70 Sheikha Lubna al Qasimi ,Minister of Economy ,UAE: This shows coming of age for Arab world , women holding such a high position .

#74 Shiekha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missened ,First Lady ,Qatar : Qatar , the arab country most close to my heart , did you know they use to have Indian Rupee as there currency .Anyways back to topic ,the first Lady had extra burden of conforming to tradition while bringing in the modernity to her country , a scholar ,a visionary , she was responsible for CMU opening campus in Doha (overseas campuses are not good idea though ), she is involved in women and child welfare in her country (Quatar had high HDI (Human development index )) .

power of power

Went to bed @4:30 am  , around same time power went out . Got all wet by sweat (Hyderabad’s summer) .Heat drove me kinda mad ;locked the door and went out on walk .Got to water cooler in  my wing ,drank some water then to the Vatasal’s wing ,then downstairs ,then Naughty’s wing , drank some water there ,then to DVD’s wing ,then to Scientist’s wing , drank some more there ,then to bhai’s wing . Saw first person  awake due to searing hot weather ;Deepak ,told him “ghat ghat ka pani drink kar aa  raha hu”.Then off I went to other wing  but found another person ,this time Ankush .All 3 of us went to end of the wing ,  some bc there , power  back  @5:00 am, went upstairs .By this time I was wide awake , thought what to do ? Took the shaving kit and went to bathroom,shaved. Now what to do ? Damn what to do @5:10am ?Got my sports shoes on ,went downstairs to Dhingra’s , asked him whether he is interested in jogging ,answer came back NO,tried cajoling him but still NO .Decided to go alone , went upto Microsoft IDS and back .Changed ,washed cloths I was wearing,then went to water cooler , some more WATER.Then went to Vatasal’s wing , saw sunrise (I think first time in 2 years or so ,may be , donno exactly ).Saw  some friends come out of  hostel onto the felicity ground for playing cricket .(Sambhav and I think Mathur , may be ,donno exactly  ).Still some time left untill my usual wake up time of 7:25 am.What to do  ? Damn what to do @6:45am?Though of writing the blog , but by the time I opened the wordpress account sleepless night was taking heavy toll on my cognitive abilities. Just writing on and on  ,donno what  exactly .Feeling famished  .Oh!!!what do you know ,it is breakfast time.

being Unique .

Today I attended barcamp at ISB Hyderabad and I think it was quite better than the last one .Anyways , at the tea break a girl standing in front of me in queue said something ( it was  gibberish for me)  ,I asked what was it ,she said is that my surname on the name tag , I said yes it is , she said she though that it is name of the organization I am from .I said why would you think that , she said she has never heard of that surname before . That got me thinking ; I myself have not heard of any other Saad except my family  (that’s why this post ).As soon as I returned to my hostel (ISB is just behind IIIT-H) I googled my name .Google returned with 3 pages of results . I went through each and every link of the page . I found that every link has information pertaining to me and me only . That’s when I realized that I might be the only “Akshay Saad” on the planet .That I am unique by my name .

Software products and services .

I was reading an article today in ET  about contemporary software services  and products in India . India is globally known for it’s IT services  .But the article was about the products companies emerging in India.I suddenly realized that I was able to go through the article rather swiftly.That was because of the question posted in one of the  Software Architecture slides (What is the difference b/w Software product and services ?).My familiarity with the topic got me thinking . The article was describing different companies coming up in S/W products sector in India . I think the author was under emphasizing the need to develop in software product space . That is because of the fundamental development of Computer .Computer is new ,people around haven’t got used to it . Currently this provides the opportunity for the services industry  to develop ( Which basically is to help people use Computer .).What will happened in a couple of decades is that people will get accustomed to computer ,operating one will be counted as the skill on same level as speaking , writing . From then onwards there will be much more scope for Products than services .Even if the services  flourish it will be because of the products they use . A large chunk of revenue will go to the products .Other factor to explore products  is that service sector is near saturation . It is no longer viable  to grow by just adding more and more people . It is like in AOE , you could buy gold temporarily by selling woods  , but it is more wise to get some of your villagers to gold mine from lumber camp .Also because the lumber camp location is know to the others they will come after it . Ironically  it may cause you to sell gold for wood .
